Coast Guard C-130 aircraft damaged during landing KODIAK, Alaska - Personnel from Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak are assisting the crew of a Coast Guard C-130 that suffered damage during landing today on St. Paul Island, in the Bering Sea. The Kodiak based aircraft was on a logistics mission, transporting equipment in support of Coast Guard operations. After the aircraft touched down, it departed the left side of the runway, damaging the right wing and separating one of the four propellers. The aircraft came to rest 50 yards left of the runway. Weather at the time of the incident was reported to be a 200-foot ceiling, with 1 mile of visibility. There were no reported injuries to the nine Coast Guard personnel on board the aircraft. The crew is spending the night at the Coast Guard Loran Station on the island. The incident is under investigation. |
