Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Katmai Fishermen

JUNEAU, Alaska -- The Coast Guard suspended the search today at 9:36 a.m. for two missing crewmen from the fishing vessel Katmai that sank 100 miles west of Adak.

Carlos Martin Zabala and Robert Davis were part of the 11-man crew aboard the fishing vessel Katmai. The vessel started taking on water early Wednesday morning, four crewmembers survived.

The Coast Guard Cutter Acushnet from Ketchikan, MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters and HC-130 Hercules airplanes from Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Air National Guard HC-130 Hercules from the 211th Rescue Squadron, HH-60 Pave Hawk from the 210th Rescue Squadron and Pararescue jumpers from the 212th Rescue Squadron searched 4,871 square miles of ocean over the past week.
