NOME, Alaska - Members of the Coast Guard, Air Force and Air National Guard volunteered their Sunday to clean Middle Beach of trash and also put on a search and rescue demonstration for the community here.

The demonstration consisted of a MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew, a HH-60 Pavehawk helicopter crew, a C-130 Hercules airplane crew and a 25-foot response boat.

During the demonstration members of the community were able to see first hand how complex a mission it is to search for and rescue a person in Alaskan waters.

After the demonstration the Coast Guard and Air Force landed their helicopters on Middle Beach and left them there as a static display where community members could come up and see the helicopters and learn about them.  There was also a 25-foot response boat on display.
