JUNEAU, Alaska - Coast Guard Chief Peter MacDougal (left), Master Chief Petty Officer William Beardsley, Rear Adm. James C. Olson, and Vice Adm. Terry Cross render honors during the playing of the national anthem at a ceremony in Sitka Saturday, during which the title of Enlisted Ancient Albatross, instituted in 1988, was handed down from Beardsley to McDougall and Ancient Albatross, instituted in 1966, was handed down from Olson to Cross. The tradition of the Ancient Albatross honors the Coast Guard aviator and elisted aircrew who have held their designations for the longest period. KODIAK, Alaska- Chief Warrant Officer Ronald G. Long, the new commanding officer of LORAN station Port Clarence, salutes Rear Adm. James Olson to officially take command of the LORAN station’s crew. Long is a native of Lytle Creek, Calif., and joined the Coast Guard in 1976. Longs’ previous assignment was the Chief of Electronics Engineering Field Support at Electronic Systems Support Unit in Cleveland, Ohio form January 2002 through 2005. Chief Warrant Officer Long is married to the former Jayne Murra of Bastow, Calif. They have three children, Jessica, 24, Michelle, 22 and Brian, 20.
