ANCHORAGE, Alaska - President George W. Bush speaks to an audience of 5,000 troops, military families and civilians at Elmendorf Air Force Base Monday. In his speech Bush thanked the military and their families for their dedication and outlined his strategy for victory in the War on Terror. Anchorage was a stop over on the President's trip to Asia. Jones, a Coronado, Calif., native is retiring from the Coast Guard. KODIAK, Alaska – Cmdr. Matthew Barre, Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak's executive officer, awards Lt. Steve Bonn the Coast Guard Air Medal during a ceremony April 5 at the air station here. Bonn earned the medal for his participation during rescue operations following the explosion and sinking of the motor vessel Bow Mariner Feb. 28, 2004 off the coast of Virginia. Bonn and his Jayhawk crew rescued six of the vessel's crewmen while flying through fumes from the remaining diesel fuel and ethanol cargo. Bonn is currently stationed here.
